last week we did a tasting with chef thierry mace at froggy's of highwood. he is one of our potential caterers. we're waiting on some info from 2 more catering companies....this past weekend we visited my folks for father's day weekend and i tried the dress on again. it was gorgeous, but very heavy. i fear the power of gravity!

i've added some new info at the following pages (please check out at your leisure):

let me know if there's info you need that i have not provided!
finally decided on the reception site! we'll be dining and dancing at the highland park community house in highland park (famous for the wondrous ravinia festival in summer). also have decided on tone stockenstrom for photography.

it's been a really harried week for me. swamped at work and swamped with classes and fervently trying to finish wedding invite designs. might go and make the copies tonight...

new news:
i've decided that fake flowers, though very unchic and not very special, are going to be the route i'm taking.

reasons for choosing "silk" over the real beauties:
* cost - we've looked at how much we've spent/got scheduled to spend this week, and it ain't pretty. plus, i wound up totally splurging on the invites i'm making (!) ~ aren't they supposed to be cheaper when you d.i.y? so, i am waiting patiently for hobby lobby's next 1/2 off sale on flowers. waiting, waiting, waiting....

* pickiness - some flowers are too expensive to get when they aren't quite in season. with fakes, we can have whatever we want, whenever we want!

* reliability - we'll know how the bouquets look well in advance of the wedding and can change and adjust as needed. plus, bonus of no wilting the day of! i really want to get a handle on things, and being able to make these well ahead of time is definitely something i need right about now.

have a think on what you'd like for your flowers. fingers crossed the sale happens this week!!

other news:
~ band is booked: maggie speaks
~ caterer is booked: froggy's of highwood
~ makeup artist is booked: sonia roselli of frame new york
~ had engagement photos taken july 13, got proofs last friday, still need to send back for which ones we want. we had dorothy perry, who we had considered for wedding day photos, take the engagement portraits.
~ in process of booking dance instructor for mini-session between ceremony and reception (while we're out taking photos, guests can go and participate in dance lessons!)
~ we met with the minister who will be officiating at our wedding, reverend pam keckler. she is awesome! lots of fun, very modern, not at all stuffy.

for my bachelorette bash, how do you all feel about karaoke? liz, david, and i went with some of liz's friends last month and had an absolute blast!
